16. Samuel Proctor (1665–1740), son of Robert Proctor and Jane Hildreth

Samuel Proctor was born on 15 September 1665 in Chelmsford. [1] He died on 12 April 1740, age 74, in Chelmsford. [1] He married Sarah Unknown.

17. Sarah Unknown (c. 1672–1757)

Sarah was born about 1672. She died on 17 January 1757, age 85, in Chelmsford. [1]


Samuel Proctor, yeoman of Chelmsford, made his will and signed it with his mark on 7 March 1739/40. He said that he was "in health of body and of perfect mind and memory. He mentioned his wife Sarah; his sons Samuel, Thomas, David, William, Daniel and Jonas; his daughter Lucy; Eleazer and Abraham Cummings, the children of his deceased daughter Rachel. He named his son William his executor. Sarah, gave her consent for the will to be proved on 9 May 1740 and it was on 12 May. [2, 18221, 1–7]

Children of Samuel Proctor and Sarah Unknown: [1]

i. Sarah Proctor was born on 15 April 1694 in Chelmsford. She died on 11 May 1694 in Chelmsford.

ii. Samuel Proctor was born on 16 January 1696/7 in Chelmsford. He died on 6 October 1764, age 68, and was buried two days later in Chelmsford. He married Lydia Cotton after 15 Marach 1723/4 (intention) in Chelmsford. Lydia, the daughter of Samuel and Lydia (Bates) Cotton, was born on 25 November 1699 in Middletown, Connecticut. [3] Lydia died on 10 or 11 February 1763 in Chelmsford.

iii. Thomas Proctor was born on 12 December 1698 in Chelmsford. He died on 3 September 1744 in Westford. He married Hannah Barron.

iv. David Proctor married Hannah Farrar of Concord on 31 December 1730 in Concord. Hannah, the daugher of Jacob and Susanna (Rediate) Farrar, was born on 11 September 1705. [4]

v. Rachel Proctor was born on 5 January 1702/3 in Chelmsford. She died before 7 March 1739/40. She married Eleazer Cummings of Dunstable after 26 October 1729 (intention) in Chelmsford. Eleazer, the son of Nathaniel and Abigail (Parkhurst) Cummings, was born on 19 October 1701 in Dunstable. [5]

vi. William Proctor was born on 14 August 1704 in Chelmsford. He died on 13 or 14 October 1767, age 63, in Chelmsford. He married Lucy Fletcher after 9 July 1733 (intention) in CHelmsford. Lucy, the daughter of William and Tabitha Fletcher, was born on 21 February 1710 in Chelmsford.

William Proctor of Chelmsford made his will on 13 October 1767. His heirs were his wife Lucy; Ruben, son of Philip Proctor, late of Westford; Joseph Pierce, Jr. of Chelmsford; Mary Fletcher, daughter of William Fletcher of Chelmsford; Mary Proctor, daughter of Samuel Proctor, late of Chelmsford; Lydia, daughter of Cotton Proctor of Groton, Rebecca Parker, daughter of Jonas Parker of Acton; Estehr Powers, daughter of Remembrance Power of Chelmsford. vii. Captain Daniel Proctor was born on 1 November 1706 in Chelmsford. He died on 28 January 1775, age 69, in Chelmsford. He married Susannah Hill of Billerica after 17 September 1727 (intention) in Chelmsford. Susannah, the daugher of Joseph and Susanna, was born on 18 February 1704/5 in Billerica. [6] Mrs. Susannah Proctor, the wife of Capt. Daniel Proctor died on 26 November 1785. [HC, 741]

viii. Lucy Proctor was born on 9 August 1708 in Chelmsford. She married Henry Spaulding after 5 December 1725 (intention) in Chelmsford. Henry, the son of Henry and Elizabeth Spalding was born on 22 November 1704 in Chelmsford. [7]

ix. Charles Proctor was born on 31 June 1710 in Chelmsford. He died on 28 October 1728 in Chelmsford.

x. Jonas Proctor was born on 9 April 1712 in Chelmsford.

xi. Sarah Proctor was born on 30 September 1715 in Chelmsford.
